Netherlands Activates Energy Crisis Plan

The Dutch government has activated its energy crisis plan this week to combat gas supply issues stemming from Russian gas supply uncertainty.

  • The Dutch government is set to allow its Groningen field to produce 2.8 Bcm in gas year 22, starting October 1. That is down from this year’s quota of 4.5 Bcm but means the field will stay open another year.
  • The Netherlands is also removing the cap on production at Dutch coal power plants in order to preserve gas.
