STOCKS: News that US President Trump has postponed the steel tariff decision for
the EU & other allies boosted risk sentiment, although the Asia-Pacific region
was still subject to diminished liquidity with Hong Kong, China & Singapore
observing the labour Day holiday
- The Nikkei 225 added 0.1%, with energy names leading the way higher following
Monday's Iran-inspired pop in crude prices. Elsewhere the telecoms sector lodged
decent enough gains, while the financial sector provided the largest drag.
- Australia's ASX 200 added 0.5% with financials leading the way higher, while
health care names weighed.
- US index futures also moved higher, with the mini-Dow 25 points better off,
while the e-mini S&P added 3 points.
