Nigeria’s new mega Dangote refinery is aiming to start supplying 10ppm diesel by 2Q or 3Q according to an email exchange with Bloomberg.

  • The refiner said that its current diesel production contains 80% less sulphur than standard imports into the country.
  • The refiner denied that recent diesel price cuts from the refinery were a result of poor-quality grades.
  • The refinery is taking advantage of cheaper US oil imports for as much as a third of its feedstock as it ramps up production.
  • The refinery is running at about 300,000bpd - nearly half its nameplate capacity, according to the average estimate of analysts at WoodMac, FGE and Citac.
