Nigerian March LNG Exports Slump

Average LNG shipments from Nigeria’s Bonny Island facility so far in March are around a third below January-February levels, Bloomberg ship tracking data showed.

  • The decline in exports is due to lower supplies via the Trans Niger Pipeline, an oil pipeline that also impacts gas flows.
  • “The TNP’s performance has been erratic over the past two years, and this has had some adverse impact on feed gas supply to NLNG,” Andy Odeh, NLNG’s general manager for external relations and sustainable development, said.
  • The firm is fulfilling its contractual obligations, he said.
  • LNG shipments improved in January and February, which allowed Nigeria LNG to offer additional shipments to long-term buyers.
