No Ban On Indian Vaccine Exports, Phased Supply To Continue: The Wire

This position remains unchanged. We have not imposed any ban... Given our current manufacturing capacity and requirements of national vaccination programmes, there may be a need to calibrate the supply schedules from time to time. All stakeholders would have to work together to adjust the schedules as required."

  • The supply of vaccines from the Serum Institute of India (SII) has been the subject of major focus in countries around the world given that the facility is the largest single producer of doses globally.
  • However, the comments do suggest that if production levels at the SII fall or domestic demand grows, this could impact the supply sent abroad.
