No Russian Oil Tankers on OFAC List has Loaded Since Sanctioned

OIL

Not a single sanctioned Russian oil tanker has loaded a cargo since being added to US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control list according to Bloomberg.

  • Sanctions have deprived Russia of 40 oil tankers that previously transported its oil.
  • OFAC have designated vessels for violations of a G7 price cap restricting the use of western services to transport Russian oil if it cost was over $60/bbl.
  • A period of 45 days following the latest designations on Feb. 23 during which cargoes can be offloaded from the named ships ends on Monday.
  • Twenty one of the tankers targeted by the US are owned by Sovcomflot. Many of those operating in the Pacific have anchored off the Russian ports of Vladivostok and Nakhodka.
  • Non-Sovcomflot ships are either idling or moving empty from one part of the world to another but no with cargo loadings as yet.
