NATURAL GAS

It is still possible to supply gas to Germany via the undamaged line of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline though Germany does not want to use it according to Russian Ambassador to the country Sergey Nechayev.

  • "The Russian side has repeatedly announced, including at the top level, its readiness to swiftly start the supply of gas to Germany via Nord Stream 2, which in our view would fully meet the demand of business, industry and citizens of the country," the diplomat said.
  • "A respective possibility regarding the undamaged line of Nord Stream 2 still persists. However, the German side should take corresponding decisions for doing it, particularly on certification of the gas pipeline," he noted. "At this stage we have not received any signals on that," Nechayev added.
  • German officials have stated they are not willing to return to piped Russian gas because of energy security fears and are confident that increased LNG import capacity for the country will help to alleviate supply concerns.
