Norway to Denmark Gas Delayed - Poland Unaffected

NATURAL GAS

The opening of the Danish terminal Nybro by Varde for Norwegian gas has been delayed by almost two weeks to November 1 according to Energinet.

  • The receiving terminal for gas from the Norwegian gas pipeline Europipe II should have gone into operation on Thursday 20 October 2022.
  • Energinet announced to the gas market that commissioning of Nybro will take place in two stages: commissioning is expected on 1 November 2022 with half of the total capacity (6,700 MWh/h). Full commissioning will take place later in 2022. A date is yet to be confirmed for full commissioning.
  • The delay in Nybro will not affect the gas volume to Poland. As planned, the Baltic Pipe was put into operation at partial capacity on Saturday 1 October.
  • The recently opened Baltic Pipe has allowed Poland to transition away from Russian gas which was cut off earlier this year.
