Norway’s NVE Expects Smaller Power Surplus by 2028

Norway’s NVE expects the country’s power balance to weaken in the coming years, but it still expects a power surplus in 2028.

  • In a normal year, the Norwegian power balance will be reduced from 18TWh in 2024 to 9TWh in 2028.
  • Power demand is forecast to increase by 14TWh, while production is expected to rise by 5TWh – with increases in solar PV and hydropower generation.
  • The increase in consumption, however, is lower than previously estimated, NVE said.
