Norwegian Oil Sector Increasing It's Security Against Attack's

Norway intends to increase security at its oil and gas installations following the apparent sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines this week and numerous reports of drones coming close to platforms in recent weeks.

  • Regarding the Nord Stream pipelines, Norwegian Oil and Energy Minister Terje Aasland said "Based on the information we have seen so far, much indicates acts of sabotage."
  • Given the high tensions, Norwegian officials are fearful the drones may be used in an attack on infrastructure.
  • Norway has consulted the armed forces on the security issues.
