NZD Touches New Monthly Lows as Ardern Confirms Nationwide Lockdown

  • NZD/USD trades at new daily and monthly lows as New Zealand PM Ardern confirms the country is to enter a 3-day lockdown after the detection of one COVID case. The 3-day lockdown is effective in all areas outside of Auckland and Coromandel, which undergo a 7-day lockdown.
  • The PM also confirms that all vaccinations have been suspended for 48 hours, warning that "we all see what happened in Sydney, don't want that here".
  • NZD/USD trades a daily low of 0.6931, exposing the late July lows of 0.6902 ahead of key support and the bear trigger at 0.6881.
