KIWI: NZD/USD shoots higher in the wake of the RBNZ's monetary policy decision.
The OCR was left unchanged at 1.0%, in line with expectations, but the MPC
signalled that they expect no changes to the OCR this year. Members highlighted
coronavirus outbreak as an emerging downside risk, but worked on the assumption
that its economic impact of will be short-lived (albeit significant for some
sectors & with the potential for turning out to be more persistent) as they
assessed that there is time to adjust MonPol if needed as new information comes
through.
- The rate sits at $0.6457, 51 pips better off. resistance from the
100-DMA/mid-point of the Oct 1 - Dec 31 rally at $0.6477/80 is in sight, a break
would expose the 200-DMA at $0.6501.
