OIL: Germany and Kazakhstan Set to Secure Schwedt Supply Deal

Germany will sign two contracts to increase crude volumes imported from Kazakhstan for its Schwedt refinery according to Reuters sources on Sunday.

  • Under the first deal, a monthly supply of 100,000 metric tons of crude oil will be secured until the end of 2025, while a second contract will be for the supply of up to 50,000 tons per month.
  • The Schwedt refinery has already been purchasing the additional quantities for three months but now they will be contractually fixed.
  • The flows come via the Druzhba pipeline and replace those lost under Russian sanctions and fulfil the specification to replace Urals.
