The strength of the US dollar means that many of the world’s largest oil-importing nations are not seeing the benefit from the drop in crude prices due to the strength of the US dollar.

  • The biggest impact can be seen in Japan where the price of crude in local currency has fallen just 5.5% since Mar 8 compared to a 27.1% fall when priced in USD.
