Oil Majors Push Back Against Venture Global Permit Extension

Three of Venture Global LNG’s main customers have asked US energy regulators to address the LNG developers request for a one-year permit extension to complete its Louisiana export facility.

  • Venture Global asked for a one-year extension last week to complete its Calcasieu Pass gas-export plant, or to receive assurances it did not need an extension.
  • BP, Shell and Repsol are pushing back against the request. All three have filed contract arbitration claims against Venture Global over a lack of contracted cargoes.
  • Venture Global claims the facility is still in a commissioning phase so is not offering contracted cargoes to the likes of BP, Shell and Repsol, instead selling them direct.
