OIL: Nigeria Crude Ouptut in August Rises to Highest Since January

Combined crude oil and condensates output from Nigeria edged up to 1.57mb/d in August compared to 1.53mb/d in July, according to data from the upstream petroleum regulatory commission.

  • Total crude oil output was the highest since January at 1.35mb/d, up from 1.31mb/d in July.
  • Nigeria’s oil output has risen after the government tightened security measures to reduce crude theft.
  • Forcados production climbed from 7.8mbbl in July to 9mbbl to reach the highest monthly volumes in data back to January 2020.
  • Output of Amenam, Bonga, Bonny, Brass, Erha, Forcados, Okwuibome and Utapate all rose m/m in August but output fell for Agbami, Egina, Escravos and Qua Iboe.
