Further on China gasoline: China gasoline exports dropped from 770,000 metric tons in August - the lowest since April and down from 790,000 tons in July according to General Administration of Customs data. 

  • A new quota may be released this week according to Bloomberg sources.
  • As of the end of August, Chinese state refiners and fuel sellers had used up about 80% of their current export quota for the year according to Bloomberg.
  • The margin on gasoline exports was -111 yuan (-$16) a ton in August compared with a profit of more than 240 yuan in July, according to OilChem. Across the region, profits from producing gasoline from crude fell almost 58% in August.
  • Last month's Chinese refinery throughput fell year-on-year for a fifth month in a row.
