Oil Products Tankers To France Divert To Spain

Two tankers hauling diesel and jet fuel from East of Suez to France have changed course to Spain in recent days amid strike action at some French ports according to Vortexa and ship-tracking data from Bloomberg.

  • The STI Grace, laden with ultra-low sulphur diesel from Taiwan and jet fuel from Malaysia, was sailing towards Le Havre and made a U-Turn signalling Barcelona.
  • Nationwide strikes in France will affect port operations at Le Havre on 6-7 April according to a note from Maersk.
  • The STI Veneta loaded jet fuel and diesel from Kuwait and arrived near the Fos-sur-Mer port on 24 March. After 2 days of anchorage off the port, it changed direction to Bilbao.
  • Strike action at the ports of Fos and Lavera have been extended until further notice.
  • As of this week, the number of vessels stuck in congestions amid strikes has been down to 34, compared to 97 last week.
