Oman Duqm Refinery Completes Start-Up

Oman’s Duqm refinery has completed its start-up processes and aims to begin commercial operations by the end of 2023, according to Zawya.

  • According to a written statement by OQ, it has already made its first shipment of HSFO, exported to the US, while naphtha production has also been achieved.
  • Around 95k mt of HSFO shipped from Duqm is heading to Corpus Christi, Texas, according to Kpler.
  • The refinery's construction is more than 98% completed, with 65% of the commissioning process done, they said.
  • When completed, the Duqm refinery will have a capacity to process 230k b/d of crude.
  • The refinery is a 50:50 joint venture between OQ Group and Kuwait Petroleum International.
