ONGC Set to Remain Part of Sakhalin- 1

India’s ONGC intends to keep its stake in the Russian Sakhalin-1 oil and gas project according to the Times of India newspaper.

  • "ONGC Videsh will protect its share in the project, which means it will take a stake in the new entity," the newspaper said.
  • ONGC Videsh will consider acquisition of an extra share in the project if it has the commercial sense, the sources added.
  • The Indian company held a 20% stake in the project before the ownership status of the project was changed under a decree by Putin.
