OPEC Revises Up Russia 1Q23 Production Assessment

Russian liquids production is forecast to drop by 0.7 mb/d in 2023 to average 10.3 mb/d according to the OPEC Monthly Oil Market Report. Annual growth is revised up by around 152kb/d from the previous monthly assessment, due to higher-than-expected production in 1Q23. The production projection for remaining months of the year is unchanged.

  • The key drivers of non-OPEC supply growth in 2023 are forecast to be the US, Brazil, Norway, Canada, and Kazakhstan.
  • Oil production in the OECD region is forecast to grow by 1.4 mb/d to average 32.3 mb/d.
  • Growth in OECD Americas is forecast at 1.2 mb/d to average 28.1 mb/d with OECD Europe to grow by 0.2 mb/d to 3.8 mb/d, while OECD Asia Pacific unchanged to 0.5 mb/d.
