PADD 1 Driving Higher North American East Coast Gasoline Imports

OIL PRODUCTS

North America East Coast (PADD 1, PADD 3 and the Caribbean) gasoline imports are up 15% m/m for June (days 1-20) according to Vortexa.

  • Structurally short PADD 1 is the dominant driver as the summer driving season gets underway – expected to be higher than 2022 but lag pre-pandemic.
  • Unplanned gasoline production unit (FCC) outages in PADD 1 and USGC could support flows in the second half of July.
  • 60% of the June gasoline/blending component imports into PADD 1 have originated from Europe (mainly ARA). Vortexa has also seen an increase in blending components from India (up 35% m/m) and redistributed Caribbean supplies (up 40% m/m).
