Pemex Raises Gasoline Production, Imports

Mexico’s Pemex increased its gasoline and diesel production in October month on month, amid a slight increase in its processing capacity and higher petroleum imports, according to the company.

  • Pemex produced 282.6k bpd of gasoline in October, up by 17% from September.
  • Diesel output rose by 21% month on month to 151.4k bpd.
  • Fuel oil production fell by 2.5% on the month to 272k bpd.
  • Petroleum products imports rose by 8.7% month on month, driven by larger gasoline imports that posted an increase of 17% to 475k bpd.
  • Natural gas imports rose by 15.5% to 506.9mn cf/d.
  • Mexico aims to be energy self-sufficient by 2024 and aims to end crude exports and instead refine locally to produce fuels, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said.
  • Pemex crude production stood at 1.7mbpd in October.
  • Crude processing at refineries rose by 3.7% on the month to 808.76k bpd in October. The goal is to raise production to 1mbpd this year.
