Pending Home Sales Show No Sign Of Uplift In November

US DATA
  • Pending home sales were a little softer than expected in November at 0.0% M/M (cons 0.9) after a marginally upward revised -1.2% M/M (initial -1.5%) in Oct.
  • Pending sales have broadly stabilized through Sep-Nov after a heavy 7% decline in August, but being more than 30% below 2019 levels they continue to imply modest further declines in existing home sales in the next couple months ahead.
  • The data are however likely to only capture a small part of the impact from the >100bp reduction in 30Y mortgage rates since late October.
