Pentagon Concerned About Instability on Russia-Ukraine Border

  • Pentagon: US is worried about "any destabilizing actions" on the border between Russia and Ukraine. Spox Kirby says the US will monitor the situation and pay attention to any aggressive actions in the region, but refused to speculate about Russia's intentions.
    • Earlier, The Washington Post published information about the alleged "resumption of the movement of Russian troops near the Ukrainian border."
    • The publication says that allegedly recently videos have appeared on social networks showing "Russian military trains and convoys carrying large quantities of military equipment, including tanks and missiles, in the south and west of Russia."
  • International investors have sharply reduced their investments in Russian ruble debt. Last week, they withdrew 64 billion rubles from OFZ, six times more than a week earlier
  • Authorities warn that doctors and hospitals are under pressure with surging covid cases over 40k/day & 1,155 deaths putting strain on the medical system.
    • Moscow remains under lockdown until 7 November, and The Kremlin noted that the "situation is not becoming easier." Authorities are also allegedly seeking ways to boost the vaccination drive which has slowed in recent weeks
