PERU: Government Implores Petroperu Workers Not To Strike

PERU
  • Earlier in the week, Petroperu implored workers to reverse course on a planned strike, which would put the country’s fuel supplies at risk and further hurt the state energy company, according to a statement. For reference, Petroperu workers gave the government 72 hours to name a board or expect a 48-hour strike while the union considers a general strike, RPP said citing a statement. This would likely include more than 1000 workers.
  • Regarding the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Week represents a platform that will enable the establishment of new trade agreements, leading to positive economic results, APEC Peru 2024 Presidency Working Group Executive Coordinator Gino Arciniega indicated.
  • "We have the opportunity to close free trade agreements with Hong Kong and Indonesia, which will provide better conditions for access to markets and the reduction of tariff barriers," the diplomat recently told Andina News Agency.
