Petroecuador Orders Security For Oil Facilities Amid Tumult

Ecuador has sent military and police on Tuesday to stop criminal groups after several attacks, also protecting three refineries with a combined capacity of 175kbpd according to Argusmedia.

  • Petroecuador announced on Tuesday it will reinforce security at its facilities everywhere in the country as a precautionary measure, the firm said, cited by La Republica.
  • Soldiers and police are protecting Petroecuador's three refineries that process around 175kbpd, the 360kbpd Sote pipeline, and around 40 crude fields in the Amazonian region, the firm said, cited by Argusmedia.
  • Petroecuador produces more than 80% of the country’s oil production of 480kbpd according to La Republica.
  • The country had suffered around 30 attacks n the night from Monday to Tuesday. Ecuador's president Daniel Noboa signed the decree on Tuesday declaring 22 domestic gangs as terrorists and authorized the national army and police to "neutralize" them through military operations.
