PERU: Petroperu Urges End To Protests At Talara Refinery

PERU
  • In a statement released yesterday, Petroperu urged groups to stop the protests and violent acts at its Talara refinery, which halted operations there on Monday morning. The company said that the protests were affecting operations and putting at risk the safety of its workers. Bloomberg reports that Petroperu held meetings with different unions at the end of last year to find solutions to protestors demands.
  • Separately, Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen said yesterday that Peru had reached a new export record in 2024, with projections exceeding $73 billion, according to a report in Andina. Adrianzen said that for this year, he hoped that exports would exceed $75 billion.
  • Datawise, no macro releases are due today, with focus this week remaining on Thursday’s BCRP monetary policy meeting. The decision looks like being a close call, with a slight majority of analysts (5/9) in the latest Bloomberg survey expecting a 25bp cut to 4.75% this week, with the rest forecasting no change.
