Spot USD/PHP has lost some altitude and last sits -0.060 at PHP50.245. Bears look for a dip through Jul 13 low of PHP49.940, which would bring Jul 2 low of PHP49.085 into play. Conversely, a break above Jul 14 cycle high of PHP50.320 would turn focus to Jun 15, 2020 high of PHP50.380.

  • USD/PHP 1-month NDF last +0.030 at PHP50.440. Initial topside focus falls on Jul 12 high of PHP50.740, while Jul 13 low of PHP50.100 provides the initial downside target.
  • The Philippines banned entry of travellers from Indonesia between Jul 16 and Jul 31 and said that those who are in transit will be subject to a 14-day facility-based quarantine. Indonesia has become the main hot spot of Covid-19 in Asia, after its daily case count surpassed that of India this week.
  • Philippine overall BoP may be released in the coming days, but there is no fixed time.
