Do we have to wait until we're back to 2% sustainably? Don't think so - just need to have sufficient confidence that inflation is evolving in line with the 2% target. Crucial thing is managing the relationship between inflation going down, the persistence of inflation in focus, alongside the restrictiveness of policy.- That might seem abstract, evading a specific number. But there are uncertainties.- My reason for erring on side of caution is that risks have been greater for persistence in the past.
