PM Prayuth Remains Tight-Lipped On House Dissolution Date

THAILAND

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha told reporters after today's Cabinet meeting that the dissolution of parliament is getting closer, but he refused to specify the date, noting that he would like the incumbent administration to sort out outstanding matters first.

  • Local media had earlier suggested the legislature could be dissolved on March 20, just ahead of the expiry of the government's four-year term on March 23, to pave the way for a general election tentatively scheduled for May 7.
