POLAND: Fitch Says Budget Proposal Highlights Fiscal Consolidation Challenges

POLAND
  • Poland's 2025 draft state budget proposal, released on 29 August 2024, signals the continuation of relatively loose fiscal policy, Fitch Ratings says. The increase in the targeted deficit highlights the challenge of fiscal consolidation in the face of spending pressures.
  • The proposed budget targets a general government deficit of 5.5% of GDP in 2025, down from an estimated 5.7% in 2024. This compares with Fitch’s projections of 4.8% and 5.3%, respectively.
