POLAND: Focus Turns To Governor Glapinski's Presser
POLAND
- The National Bank of Poland (NBP) kept interest rates unchanged, in line with unanimous consensus, amid a flare-up in CPI inflation. The statement offered little in the way of new information, with the focus turning to Governor Adam Glapinski's press conference, which will begin at 14:00BST/15:00CEST. The previous presser saw the Governor backpedal on his earlier hawkish forward guidance. Against this backdrop, market participants will pay attention to any fresh updates on the interest-rate outlook today.
- Gazeta Wyborcza reported that the parliamentary Constitutional Accountability Committee (ODK) is planning to summon MPC's Joanna Tyrowicz, Ludwik Kotecki and Przemyslaw Litwiniuk to testify in the ongoing probe into the conduct of Governor Adam Glapinski. The committee held hearings with the first five witnesses yesterday and is reportedly planning to summon more than 50.
- Onet and money.pl reported that the NBP's Management Board approved bonus hikes for Governor Glapinski and his two deputies. The mechanism of granting bonuses to the Governor is one of the themes of the ongoing parliamentary investigation against Glapinski.
