POLAND: MPC's Dabrowski Says Rate Cuts Most Likely in Q1/Q2-2025

  • Ireneusz Dabrowski, a member of the rate-setting MPC who tends to vote with Glapinski’s majority, said the NBP chief’s comment back in July that rate cuts are not likely until 2026 was an expression of the “most pessimistic scenario,” in an interview with Bloomberg.
  • “The most likely scenario is still that rates remain unchanged until the end of this year and any changes, most likely rate cuts, will only take place in the first or second quarter of next year,” Dabrowski said in a phone interview Wednesday.
  • He added that the central bank’s inflation projection released in November will provide the most insight on prices since it will gauge the impact of a partial unfreezing in energy prices on inflation over time.
