Poland is ready to increase electricity exports to Ukraine is Slovakia decided to cut off emergency power supplies to Ukraine, a Polish senior official said on Sunday, cited by Bloomberg.
- The official added Poland’s government is ready to increase domestic power production to replace potential missing supplies from Slovakia to Ukraine.
- Slovakia’s prime minister Robert Rico threatened on Friday to cut back-up power supplies to Ukraine if Russian gas transits via Ukraine would halt – as planned.
- Ukraine’s president Zelenskiy pushed back on threats over the weekend, saying Russia’s president Putin gave Slovakia’s president “the order to open the second energy front against Ukraine at the expense of the Slovak people’s interests…”, Zelenskiy said via X.
- European TSO have increased their power export capacity to Ukraine and Moldova by 400MW to 2.1GW this winter, as of 1 December, according to Entso-E.
