POLAND: Retail Sales Expected To Rebound After Weak September Outturn

  • The imminent implementation of sanctions on Russian LPG on December 20 may increase retail prices of the cheapest fuel widely used by drivers, mostly in the east of Poland. Rzeczpospolita reported that the price of LPG is reaching PLN3.14/litre versus around PLN2.75-2.80/litre half a year ago.
  • Statistics Poland will release retail sales data as part of another batch of October economic activity indicators at 09:00GMT/10:00CET. According to Bloomberg consensus, retail sales may have grown by 0.6% Y/Y, which comes on the heels of a set of particularly disappointing readings for September.
  • Later in the day, the NBP will release money supply data for October.
