MNI: Issuance Plans Unchanged After Lockdown-Austria Official

(MNI) LONDON

Austria will not alter its debt issuance plans for 2021 in light of the new national Covid lockdown, the Austrian Treasury's head of issuance Christian Schreckeis told MNI.

In an emailed response to questions, Schreckeis did not comment on whether 2022's funding outlook - scheduled for publication on Dec.10 - will be affected by last week's government decision to return to a general lockdown in response to rising Covid cases.

The 10-day lockdown closes gathering places such as restaurants and non-essential shops, and could be extended to 20 days.

"We do not plan to revise our 2021 funding outlook due to the announced lockdown," Schreckeis said. The Treasury updated its plan on Oct. 18.
