Polish Climate Minister Calls for Rosneft Schwedt Stake Sale

Poland’s climate minister has called for Germany to speed up the sale of Rosneft’s majority stake in the Schwedt refinery.

  • PCK Schwedt, which has traditionally supplied 90% of the fuel used in Germany's capital Berlin, was operating at 50-60% capacity this spring after Germany stopped oil supplies from Russia due to the Ukraine war.
  • Germany is trying to source new crude supply for the refinery and import it via Poland’s Gdansk port.
  • Poland’s PKN Orlen has shown interest in buying the stake.
