Polish Coal Production Falls Sharply on the Year in June

Polish hard coal production decreased by 13.4% on the year in June, while lignite production increased by 13.7% year-on-year, according to the Polish statistical office GUS, cited by ISB news.

  • Hard coal production amounted to 3.35 mn/t in June– up by around 0.6% compared to volumes in May.
  • Over January-June, hard coal production decreased by 7.1% on the year and amounted to 21.68 mn/t.
  • But lignite production increased on the year to 3.46 mn/t in June and was up by around 8.8% on the month.
  • Over the first 6 months of this year, lignite production totalled 19.83 mn/t – a 0.2% rise year-on-year.
