Political Forces to Limit New Constitutional Drafting

  • The heads of Chile's upper and lower houses announced on Oct. 8 that Congress reached a breakthrough agreement on what the country's new constitutional drafting process will look like, Ex-Ante reported Oct. 9.
    • Leaks of the agreement show that the popularly-elected body drafting the constitution rewrite will not be able to change Chile's three branches of government, the unitary governmental system or security forces.
