Political Leaders On Campaign Trail, Financial Watchdog Works On CHF Loan Law

  • Leaders of Polish political parties will be on campaign trail this week ahead of the upcoming parliamentary election. In the latest opinion poll for RMF FM/DGP, more than half (52%) of respondents said that they expect the ruling Law and Justice party to win the election, while a plurality (42.7%) said that Law and Justice will likely form the next government.
  • Business Insider reported that Poland's financial watchdog KNF has been laying the groundwork for draft legislation on CHF mortgages ahead of the ruling by the European Union's top court expected later this year. KNF cannot table legislation in parliament and any such bill would have to be proposed by the President, government or a group of parliamentarians.
  • Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin said that the government will be "cautious" with distributing dividends from state-controlled companies amid the need to retain investment capacity.
