US: Politico reporting that Treas Sec. Mnuchin is going to ask Congress for a
Phase 3 coronavirus stimulus package worth $850bln or more (citing `multiple
sources involved in assembling the deal`). Likely that a large amount of this
would be the payroll tax cut.
- Politico notes that by comparison, the paid leave provision in `Phase 2` would
cost $100bln, while the Global Financial Crisis` TARP cost $475bln (repaid by
financial institutions over time).
- Notably Phase 2 has yet to pass (could be taken up by Congress as soon as
today); payroll tax cut likely to see opposition in Congress.
