  • That previous Q in full - Q: Should we interpret the statement that more weight is being put into lag effects than they would have been after previous hikes?
  • A: As we become more restrictive, we think the lags are just sort of a basic part of monetary policy. Let me say this, it is very premature to be thinking about pausing. When people hear lags, they think about a pause. It's very premature in my view to be thinking about or talking about pausing our rate hikes. We have a ways to go. We need ongoing rate hikes to get to that level of restrictive. We don't know where that is exactly. We have a sense. We'll write down in the December meeting a new SEP which updates that. I would expect us to continue to update it based on what we're seeing with incoming data.
