POWER: EdF Seeks to Raise £4bn for Hinkley Point C

 EdF is holding talks with investors to raise up to £4bn of investments for the construction of the 1.6GW Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant in the UK, sources said, according to Bloomberg. 

  • Earlier this week, Centrica said it is considering investing £1bn in the project, with talks currently in the early stages, according to the Telegraph.
  • EDF is also discussing with sovereign wealth funds and large infrastructure funds, the sources added.
  • Total project costs for both reactors are expected at £47.9bn.
  • The project is anticipated to be operational in 2029-31 based on several scenarios outlined by EdF in January.  The unit was originally expected online in 2027.
