The EIB and Italian Intesa Sanpaolo have initiated a project to unlock up to €8bn for the European wind industry, facilitating the installation of 32GW of the 117GW required by the EU, the EIB said.

  • The funds are supported by a €500mn counter-guarantee as part of a broader €5bn wind power package.
  • This comes after a similar initiative between the EIB and Deutsche Bank AG in Germany.
