POWER: France October Power Rebounds
POWER
France front-month power base load is trading higher today supported by small gains in the EU gas market and a sharp decline in nuclear availability, after closing at the lowest level since 30 July on Monday.
- France Base Power OCT 24 up 2.2% at 56 EUR/MWh
- EUA DEC 24 unchanged at 63.21 EUR/MT
- TTF Gas OCT 24 up 1.1% at 34.445 EUR/MWh
- Nuclear availability in France declined to 67% of capacity as of Tuesday morning, down from 74% on Monday, RTE data showed, cited by Bloomberg.
- EdF’s 1.31GW Golfech 2 reactor is scheduled to be offline until 18 Sept 23:00 CET in an unplanned halt. The planned halt at Cattenom 4 due to modulation has been cancelled. Planned works at 1.33GW Paluel 4 have been extended by nine days until 26 Sept.
- The latest 6-10 days ECMWF weather forecast for Paris suggested mean temperatures will rise above normal on 17 September and will remain above normal until 24 Sept, after which temperatures will be in line with the seasonal normal.
- Power demand in France is forecast to peak at 50.84GW on Tuesday and at 50.24GW on Wednesday, Entso-E data showed.
- In France, wind output is forecast to fall to 7.64GW during base load on Wednesday, down from 9.4GW forecasted for Thursday. Solar PV output is forecast to increase to 7.3GW during peak load on Wednesday according to SpotRenewables.
