France front-quarter power base load is pulling back today with losses in the energy complex. Closer in, French spot power is likely to edge higher with forecasts for lower wind and lower nuclear availability on the day. 

  • France Base Power OCT 24 up 7.8% at 60.36 EUR/MWh
  • EUA DEC 24 down 0.5% at 64.9 EUR/MT
  • TTF Gas OCT 24 down 0.9% at 37 EUR/MWh
  • Nuclear availability in France has declined on the day to 69% of capacity, down from 75% a day earlier, RTE data showed, cited by Reuters.
  • EdF announced on Wednesday workers will pursue industrial action for 24h starting 30 September 21:00 CET.
  • The latest 6-10 day ECMWF weather forecast suggested mean temperatures in Paris have been revised lower to fall below normal from 27 September until 30 September, when temperatures will rise above normal, before falling back below the average for the remainder of the forecast period. Mean temperatures are forecast between 9.5-17C during the period.
  • Power demand in France is forecast to peak at 49.92GW on Thursday and of 49.59GW on Friday, Entso-E data showed.
  • In France, wind output is forecast to edge lower on Friday to 9.69GW during base load, down from 10.48GW forecasted for Thursday. Solar PV output is forecast to rise on the day to 4.55GW during peak load on Friday, up from 2.9GW forecasted for Thursday according to SpotRenewables.
