POWER: French PV Capacity Climbs to 22.2GW

France’s total installed PV capacity reached 22.2GW at the end of 1H24, with 2.1GW connected over the period, up from 1.4GW in 1H23, latest data from the Ministry of Ecology show.

  • The country added around 1.1GW in 2Q in line with the previous quarter.
  • If it continued to install 1.1 GW each quarter, the total installed capacity would reach 41.2GW by the end of 2028 - inline with its current road map, according to Montel.
  • PV production totaled 12.1TWh over January-June this year, an 8% rise on the year.
