Irish renewable output in August climbed to around 1.05TWh and accounted for about 40% of the country's electricity demand – a new record – with most of it met with wind, EirGrid said.

  • Wind output totaled 898GWh – up from the previous August record in 2023 of 867GWh - and providing 34% of Ireland’s power demand.
  • 103GWh of Solar was produced – falling slightly from the July record.
  • Gas generation was at 977GWh, accounting for about 37% of domestic power consumption, with coal at 78GWh.
