POWER: Italian Renewable Developers-Investors Are Misalighned

Italian renewable developers are offering to build more plants in the south, while investors are registering greater requests in the north – leading to a “geographical misalignment”, Italy’s LinkeGreen said, cited by PV Magazine.

  • The available projects on the firms' develop-investor matchmaking platform indicate the distribution of available projects: 10% north, 8.7% centre and 81.3% in the south.
  • "The average investor faces line saturation issues, particularly in the south, prompting a shift north where maintaining the same productivity is often challenging due to climate and terrain differences,” LinkeGreen said.
  • Additionally, the projects that are of most interest are battery storage and agrivoltaics projects.
  • The firm enabled about 1.8GW of renewal commercial agreements over 1 Sept 2023 to 1 Sept 2024.
